OLD CITY RELIGIOUS ROUTE
A beautiful part of the city is hidden in the old town of Nicosia, embraced by the stony Venetian walls and protected during the centuries by the mighty patron saint of Nicosia, Agios Trifilios.
Here you can enjoy walking through the narrow picturesque streets and visit many Orthodox churches such as the Agios Ioannis Theologos Cathedral with its unique frescoes from 18th and 19th century, located in the courtyard of the Archbishopric palace.
You can also see the churches of Panagia Chryssaliniotissa, Agios Cassianos, Agios Antonios, Archangel Michail Trypiotis, Agios Savvas, Panagia Phaneromeni, Agios Eleftherios, the Metochion of the Macheras Monastery and the small church of The Holy Cross of Missirikou, which was turned into a mosque during the Ottoman period.
